I really have to start talking about one of the best parts of Christmas – Advent Calendars! I’m not talking the sort we had as kids with a chocolate behind each door but ones with lovely things hidden away be it beauty products, stationery or even alcohol there are calendars out there these days for everyone. I even found one last year with pork scratchings behind each door!
As many of you know I had my first one 2 years ago. I didn’t realise these things existed so I was really late at finding them and didn’t have many options. The one I got was the M&S one where you spend an amount in the store within certain departments and get the calendar at a price much reduced from the RRP of it’s contents. I really did enjoy it and that is why I had it again last year and the only reason I’m not having it this year is that a lot of the contents look similar to last years even though the box is fabulous! This is what my first one looked like:
Last year I started to look earlier in the year and found an amazing blog post by a lovely lady called Paula. She listed all of the advent calendars available and even posted some video’s showing her opening a few of them and letting us all know what was in them. I know some of you might not like knowing but with so many on the market it makes selecting the right one for you a lot easier and at least 1 does keep their contents a big secret! Thankfully Paula has written a similar post again this year so head over to read her Beauty Advent Calendar Guide 2017 and see if there are any you like the sound of just make sure to go back a few times as she keeps adding new ones as they get released!
With there being so many calendars out there you need to think about what you personally like. With me I love the L’Occitane brand but other than that I’m open to trying new things but I’m not keen on too many cosmetics, I prefer more toiletries and skin care products. Last year I had 3 beauty calendars (L’Occitane, M&S and Sanctuary) and a stationery one (Mrs Brimbles) which worked quite well for me. I loved 3 of them which is why I’m having 2 of them again this year. The other 2 I’m replacing with ones that had either sold out by the time I was looking or didn’t have enough interesting products in them for me. So these are the ones I had last year:
This year I will be having the Mrs Brimbles stationery advent calendar again as I really loved that, all those cute things to find and use all year and they still make me smile 🙂
I am also having a L’Occitane calendar again, I think I know which one as they have 2 this year but one of them has more products that I already know I wouldn’t use in it so I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting the other.
The third one I am having is the Look Fantastic one and I already have this pre-ordered as it sells out quickly normally! I have no idea what is in this one as they do not release the exact contents but looking at previous years this has contained an amazing collection of products so I can’t wait especially with how cute it looks!
Finally I have just ordered the ASOS calendar. I was tempted by this one last year but there was just too many cosmetics or it seemed like there were for me so I went with something else instead. This year I haven’t been able to resist!
And that is where I am right now, waiting for 1 more to be released (I know some websites have it out already but I need a few bits off the L’Occitane website so I’m going to be patient) and 3 to be delivered at some point between now and the middle of November. I hope you can forgive me for a thread about Advent in September but I just get so excited when the calendars start being released and wanted to share some of my sparkles with you all!
I decided to open tomorrow’s one box today as I’m expecting to be busy most of the day and this way you all can see everything that came in the calendars 🙂
On the left is a tube of Wonder Body from my Sanctuary calendar. It claims to hydrate, illuminate, transform, refine, even, correct and perfect. Well, that’s a lot to live up to, I’m going to have to try this out at some point!
Next to that is a cute little smiley notebook which was the last item from my Mrs Brimbles calendar. It has some lined pages inside and some blank coloured ones as well, I have some idea’s for uses for this, it just depends on what Santa delivers tonight 😉
Next to that on the bottom is a Burt’s Bees’ beeswax lip balm with vitamin E and peppermint which came from my M&S calendar. Always handy to have around the house and in my bag so another I’m pleased to receive.
Above that you can see that D’s last lindor of the day was a final red one 🙂
Top right is a bottle of Fleurs de Cerisier eau de toilette from my L’Occitane calendar. This smells really lovely and I’m so pleased to have this alongside the other items from this fragrance range.
The final box has come from my M&S calendar and held a bottle of Shay & Blue Atropa Belladonna fragrance. This is really lovely, I had to smell it when I opened it and it seemed very light to me with a slight sherbertyness to it 😀
Only 1 more full day of these to go now, I’m thinking I might cheat with the M&S calendar and open box 25 tomorrow as it’s the only one that has the 25th day so it would be all lonely if I left it 😉
On the left is the most amazing (to me) thing that has come from my Mrs Brimbles calendar so far and that is saying something as I have been amazed by almost everything that I’ve discovered! This is a pair of mini scissors! When I opened it and saw it said it was scissors my first thought was “No way!” I then opened it up and found that actually it really is a pair of scissors and they are quite good ones too! The cap comes off to reveal the blades held together with a small band, remove the band and the black edge springs out to reveal itself as the second arm of the scissors. Another reason to be amazed, this is the first pair of scissors I have received in many years that has not required the use of scissors (or more violent means) to extract them from their packaging!
Bottom right is a tube of Roses et Reines hand cream from my L’Occitane calendar which smells exactly as it sounds like it should.
Above that on the left is a tube of Gentle Polish Body Scrub from my Sanctuary calendar.
Next to that is Studio 10 Miracle Effect priming serum from my M&S calendar, I wonder if this one can live up to its name?
Top right is D’s lindor of the day and today’s one is a red milk chocolate one 🙂
Top left is a very cute coin purse (?) from my Mrs Brimbles calendar.
Next to that is a bottle of Gentle toner enriched with Shea from my L’Occitane calendar
Top right is a tube of Velvety hand cream from my Sanctuary calendar
Bottom left is D’s lindor of the day and today’s one has a milk chocolate shell filled with White chocolate 🙂
Bottom right is a Leighton Denny mini crystal nail file from my M&S calendar. It looks and feels good and is just the right size to pop in my bag 😀
Top left is another very pretty washi tape from my Mrs Brimbles calendar, I really can’t wait for Sunday to see which of the journals/planners I shortlisted for next year D has bought for me to use all these goodies I have been getting in!
Below that is some shampoo from my L’Occitane calendar. This is another product that I’ve not tried yet but have been looking at. It smells a little citrussy and a little herbal so it’s another thing to look forward to trying 🙂
In the middle is one of the main reasons I wanted the Sanctuary calendar. I find micellar water works really well with my skin and this is a foaming version. I know I could have just purchased a bottle to try but then I wouldn’t have got some of the other goodies that I have from this calendar 🙂
Top right is D’s lindor of the day and today’s is the Strawberry and Cream one again
Bottom left is a small tube of PUR correcting primer from my M&S calendar.
On the left is a tube of Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream from my M&S calendar.
Next to that is a tube of Amande Delicious Hands hand cream from my L’Occitane calendar
At the top is a heart shape cookie cutter from the Sanctuary calendar
Below that is D’s lindor of the day and it’s another red one 🙂
Finally, on the right is a little book of sticky notes from my Mrs Brimbles calendar. When I opened it out, the pile on the left have butterflies on them and the ones on the right have the Eiffel tower on them. They are very cute, very useful and have made me very happy this morning 😀
First I have to say Happy Birthday to D, hope you enjoy your day sweetheart xx
On the left is D’s lindor of the day and today is another red one
Next to that is a tube of Percy & Reed’s Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm from my M&S calendar. It sounds interesting 🙂
In the middle today is a bottle of Green lemon & orange blossom body wash from my Sanctuary calendar. This is one of my favourite products of theirs so it’s a nice one to have today.
To the right of that is a tube of dry skin hand cream from my L’Occitane calendar, this one is really rich and works wonders on my dry hands so it’s really great to have a nice handbag sized tube.
Finally, on the right is a set of stickers for planners and journals from my Mrs Brimbles calendar. As I’m planning on keeping a planner/journal type thing next year, I guess these are really going to come in handy and those donut stickers look really fun anyway 😀
