Advent Calendars – Day 3

In the front is the tea light candle that I found inside the Sanctuary calendar this morning.

Behind that is the very pretty tape that I found inside the Mrs Brimbles calendar and I have a few ideas already about how I’m going to use this.

Beside that is D’s Lindor, red again today, good job he likes those as he has loads more to come 😀

Behind those is the Filorga Time filler which was in the M&S calendar. That was in the calendar last year as well and I remember it felt nice going on so it will get used again 🙂

At the back is the L’Occitane Amande milk concentrate which smells amazing and I cant wait to try this out.

Deliveries 24th November 2016

I have a bit of everything in here today, there’s some shopping a freebie and a win too!

I’ll start with the win, as you can see on my phone I won £5 from the FreePostcodeLottery and this was from the flash draw. I found the advert and about 3 hours later the money was in my Paypal, you can’t get much better than that now can you! OK yes you can, I could win one of the big draws, or you could, just click the link and sign up. Remember to check back each day to see if you’ve been lucky 🙂

Next we’ll discuss the freebie, now that is obviously the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Flipbalm. I received this via a SoPost link which they posted on their Facebook page offering these in 1 of 3 flavours. I chose Creamy Coconut (and it smells lovely!) but there are also Juicy Watermelon or Ripe Mango flavours available as well.

Finally the shopping, well I am being totally spoiled this year aren’t I? Both new Pokemon games but I’m not allowed to play them yet as they are part of my Christmas gifts, D pre-ordered them as they were at a really good price on Amazon.

Please don’t worry if you don’t see me online much after Christmas, I have so many books I want to read (post about that coming soon!) and now new games that I’ve been looking forward to as well. So pleased January is normally a quiet month! 😉

Nectar Points – Why I love them!

I know most people are the same as I was a few years ago and just hand a nectar card over when asked to each time it’s asked for when shopping in Sainsburys. This changed for me a while ago when Sainsburys announced they were halving the number of points you would get just from shopping (from 2 points per £1 spent to 1) but that they would give other ways to make more points and that you could get many more points this way, I kind of accepted this as a challenge and set out to see just how many points we could get.

Firstly you have to understand that D and I have always had our own cards but they are linked to one account so any points either of us earn are added to a pool and similarly for those we spend as well.

I started off by checking the nectar app on my phone and found there were normally some offers there that we could take advantage of, there still are, I currently get 10 points just for signing in each week and we both have a challenge that we get double points for a number of shops with 100 bonus points on the last one within a time limit. There’s also one which comes up quite often that we like, 200 bonus points for any spend at a Sainsbury’s local so when that one is active we just detour and get milk from there instead. It doesn’t take us out of our way much and we always buy something we were going to anyway and as this normally appears on both cards at the same time, it’s a nice bonus to have.

I also noticed that Sainsburys gave away a lot more till spits than they used to and a lot of these were for things we used so I made sure they went with us each time we go shopping, I know some people complain they forget to use them and would like Sainsburys to do it for them but come on, take responsibility for yourself and if you really cant then go to Sainsbury’s My coupons (it’s linked at the bottom of their homepage) and load some to your card before you go and just miss out on those you forget about.

Anyway, now on to the reason for this post, this weekend is a double up on spending your points so points that are normally worth £10 can be exchanged for vouchers for £20 in certain departments within Sainsburys up to £20 points traded to a £40 voucher per department per card. This is the haul we have just come home with, it cost us 24000 nectar points and £8.50

What you can see here is £40 of Seasonal goods, £40 of Entertainment, £80 of clothing and £80 of taste the Difference wine and as I said £8.50 spread over all the departments where our purchases were slightly more than the voucher we had swapped for. For those wondering about the £40 limit and me saying we have £80 of things from some departments, well, that is because the £40 limit is per card not per account so we had a £40 voucher from each card.

Now, I know that it might seem these are freebies (small amount of cash paid aside) but I dont really view them as such. I always think that with Sainsburys giving out Nectar points, they must raise the prices by a fraction of a penny on everything to cover it knowing that a lot of people will either never use their points or wont take full advantage of every offer you can to maximise your reward for being loyal to them.

So, yes, I love Nectar points and hope to be able to save more and more with them in the future. Oh, and if you’re interested, we saved all those points up since we emptied our account at the double-up at the end of March this year 😉

Deliveries 17th November 2016

I’ve been shopping again! With my Christmas obsession growing each year we decided it was about time to get a seasonal duvet set and I found this one in the right size and a good price too so D got it for me.

We were also looking at Christmas jumpers when I found they’ve started making really nice Christmas T-Shirts as well this year. Both of us find jumpers too hot most of the time so we decided on some T-Shirts for a couple of things we have on next month. The one you can see best is D’s one, I have 2 hiding under that 😀

Deliveries 11th November 2016

Another day of exciting post!

This is my Mrs Brimbles Stationery Advent Box and isn’t it cute! Unlike most other advent calendars this one is a series of paper bags, each one with it’s day number on a sticker holding the bag closed. I’ve seen these displayed by pegging them along string and they look really pretty like that but I am going to pile them all up at the base of our little tree and then, when the legs of that tree are finally revealed, it will be nearly time to open the gifts under the big/main tree 😀

For now though, the best place for this is high on a shelf where only D can reach it as I have little self control, especially over something like this and I really cant wait to see what everything is (yes, I have already given each ‘parcel’ a thorough fingertip inspection 😉

Deliveries 11th October 2016

Over the weekend I managed to convince D to start our Christmas shopping as there were a few deals on some of the things we needed to purchase. I decided to have a look through the gifts section just in case something caught my eye for a gift we’d not decided upon yet and found what you can see in the picture above. It’s the Sanctuary Spa #LetGo Days of Christmas Advent Calendar! I had to give in and get it, as with my other calendar which arrived last week, this is one of my favourite beauty brands but I had no idea they were making this so it was a lovely surprise.

It’s not as expensive as most of the beauty calendars at £25 and it’s included in the 3for2 at Boots which makes it even more of a bargain, and that’s what I’m telling myself to ease the guilt from having 4 calendars this year!

The other 2 are being released next month, one is on pre-order already and the other will be a race to see if I can get one but it will make for a fun December and at least I’ll have something to show you all every day 😀

Deliveries 5th October 2016

Todays delivery is a special treat for me from my lovely hubby.

As most of you know, Christmas is my favourite time of the year and it’s made extra special by having a fab advent calendar and that is what you can see above. I saw online that the L’Occitane advent calendar had been announced and signed up to be told when, which was the 1st, and duly positioned myself at the computer as midnight approached having heard that last years one sold out in around an hour! I was very quick and had it ordered along with a couple of their Verbena clean hands gel which is great for the skin under my activity tracker, a quick swipe over with the gel when I take it off and my skin feels fresh again 🙂 So now I cant wait until December 1st to get my hands on all the fab goodies I know are waiting inside for me

I am getting (at least) one more advent calendar, a stationery one, as I have already convinced my lovely hubby to treat me to the one I found that I like the look of but I keep getting pulled towards the M&S one again. I really did enjoy last years one and this one looks really great again too, at least I have a month till that one is released to make my mind up 😀
